Gone for the whole day!
Today was my first whole day away from b.  Lately the little guy seems to be fed up with me (I know, it’s just horrible that I don’t let you eat the Christmas lights, bb and it’s even worse that I don’t let you near the cat litter - I’m awful, I know), so I didn’t really think that he’d mind. He surprised me by clinging to me when I went to pass him over...

Everything is Da
Bb says “da” for everything.  Da when he waves at the cat, da when he crawls (“da! da! da!”), da when you ask a question, and even, according to his grandmother, a sad da while pointing at my picture after I’d been gone the whole day and hadn’t returned yet. The funny thing is that da is “yes” in Russian.  We’ve been encouraging...

He knows what I'm saying!
B can understand things.  It’s crazy. Some things he totally gets: Can you turn on the light? Can you turn off the light?   Open, close. Give me five! Come on over here, bb.  Where’s B?  Peek-a-boo!  (He’ll cover his face with a blanket and when I ask where he is, he laughs and pulls the blanket off (!!!)) Turn the page… and, of course, NO!

Bb's first Christmas
B got all these great toys for Christmas including a pull toy with moving bits and new toy cars, but what does he do?  Shove all of them aside and spend the whole morning throwing a water bottle around and then chasing it.  Oh, silly bb.  It really doesn’t take a lot to keep you happy, does it.  I’m keeping this in mind for next Christmas.

A Fun(ny) Day
We went to the park today and bb swung on the swings, played with the tic tac toe spinners, rode the dinosaur, felt the tree bark, and waved at the dogs.  We had a lot of fun and bb babbled and sang (tuneful blah blahs) the whole time. The best part of the day though, was bedtime.  I put him in the crib thinking that he had conked out, but he opened his eyes upon being laid down in the crib....

Things BB gives kisses to:
me (I get them on the face of course, but also the knee and shoulder of all places) his bathtub his toy cars the couch his crib his reflection the carpet Oh and he waves at the cat.  I always tell him not to be offended if the cat doesn’t wave back.

An email closer
Today I ended an email to a friend with this: “Oh no, my kid is crawling into the kitchen.  That floor is filthy! I should know - I haven’t cleaned it in ages, probably ever.  Oh no, he’s opening the pantry door, must run.” ILU, bb.  You make things so much more interesting.

Baby Farts continued
BB continues to be gassy.  After he farts, I always say “EXCUSE YOU!” which always makes him laugh.  Now I think he’s started to connect the two things (farting and mom being funny) and now just laughs when he farts.  I don’t even have to say excuse you.  I’ve created a monster.  An adorable monster who laughs at his farts.

Biting BB
So, as I’ve mentioned, the Beeb has been giving kisses.  Ahmmmm-AH!  Occasionally though, instead of a kiss, I get a bite.  Sometimes I let out an involuntary yelp of surprise and pain.  But I really try to keep that yelp inside because whenever I act hurt, B gives me the saddest boo boo face ever.  What the heck, BB?  You’re the one biting ME.  Oh, BB.

Baby farts
Bb has been sooOOOooOOOooo gassy lately and has been farting like crazy.  And omg are they smelly!  But luckily this IS something that They Tell You About Being a Parent -frequent and smelly farts- so I wasn’t surprised. Whew, bb!

Best thing ever
BB always smiles and laughs as he crawls like it’s the best thing ever.  People told me that when he became mobile, I would be wishing he were a little, little bb again, but that’s not true.  Even though I barely got anything done today because I was chasing after him the whole time, I wouldn’t want it any different.  It must be great to finally be able go after the things you...

Nose Dive
Bb was crawling this morning, got a little ahead of himself, and did a face plant right onto the carpet.  So of course he belly flopped and flailed until I picked him up.  When I did, I was rewarded with several big kisses.  “Ahhmmmm-AH! Ahhmmmmm-AH! Ahhmmm-AH!”  It made my day.

AHH!
Bb CRAWLED across the FLOOR today!  Without stopping to flop on his belly.  Without kick kick fly.  He was crawling and I looked at him and could hardly believe he was my bb.  He’s been trying to stand up, too.  BB, you’re growing up SO FAST!

So alone
I went to the grocery store alone recently.  BB’s grandma was watching him and I thought it would be a quick and easy trip. It was neither quick nor easy.  Without bb, I couldn’t focus; my mind kept going everywhere.  I had no one to talk to.  No one to keep from eating the cart.  No one to keep me company. I got my usual Starbucks drink in the bakery section of the store. ...

Kisses!
BB has started giving kisses! …I think.  What he does is, he opens his mouth and says “ahhh” while bumping his mouth on my cheek.  So it sounds like “ahhhh-wa-ahh.”  I always crack up when he does it and then give him a big kiss right back.

Happy 9 Months, bb
Bb, you’ve now been out as long as you were in.  They told me the time would fly but I didn’t believe them.  Now I do.  I love you; you’re the best little kid anyone could ask for.
