First words
I’m going to go ahead and announce that B’s first word is “shoe” and his first phrase is “what’s that/this?”
He’s been pointing at things saying, “‘sat?” or “‘sis?” And I’ll tell him what ‘sat or ‘sis is and, satisfied with my answer, he’ll point at something else and ask again. The first...
BB, you have weird friends
Bob and Ed are long gone, but now bb calls out for “Boooo-dah!” All day long it’s “Boooo-dah! Boooo-dah!” At least this friend sounds kind of enlightened as opposed to Bob and Ed who, frankly, sound like creepy 50 year old men.
BBs against Blandness
I don’t feed the baby anything I wouldn’t eat. This means that I usually make his food - delicious chicken and brown rice and steamed veggies and oatmeal and fruits with garlic and cinnamon… Even when he gets jarred food, I’ll season it with various spices.
Recently when I was sick and wanting to get dinnertime over with as soon as possible, I fed him some jarred food and...
Tilty flirting
B tilts his head in this coy way when he feels like being flirty. He’ll tilt it all the way down so it’s touching the floor or the table, depending on where he’s sitting. And if he tilts at you, you must tilt back.
First Haircut!
Bb got his first haircut yesterday! We went to “Cool Cuts for Kids” - so glad they didn’t make it Kool Kuts because I hate that c to k stuff anyway, but with the Kids at the end it would have been truly awful. He sat in the little baby seat made to look like a car and was such an angel. I told the woman, “I want a baby cut please; don’t make him look any more like...
Bouncy bounce
I looked over at bb when he was playing with his toys today: he had his musical ball next to him and was bouncing to the music. Oh bb I love you so.
Multiple Choice, cont.
Well, (A) for sure. Poor guy caught my monster cold. Probably (B) too because he’s drooling like one of those big drool-y dogs. And you can never fully rule out (C)…
So I’m going to go with (E) all of the above, final answer.
Zero survival instinct
Bb just crawled up to a light socket and licked it. Luckily putting those plastic covers over the sockets was the FIRST thing I did when I bb proofed. Oh, bb.
Make it go away
When he sits on my lap facing me, the beeb likes to push in my stomach like he wants it to go away. I want it to go away too, bb. Probably more than you do. And if pushing on it helped, well, it would be gone by now. But thanks for trying.
Nose
Apparently the baby can only sleep while holding my nose. Strange security blanket, but ok.
Multiple choice
The baby
a) is sick b) is teething c) made a new years resolution to learn to live without sleep d) a and b e) all of the above
Thanks but no thanks
B is ripping up paper towels and trying to put them in his grandmother’s mouth. ”No thank you,” she says. ”I’m not hungry.”
Let it go, b.
Since becoming mobile, one of B’s favorite things to do is crawl on over to the bookcase and pull books off the bottom shelves and flip through them (I’m using the word flip loosely; a more accurate word would be “attempt to destroy”).
Remember that book that B ripped the cover off of? I finished reading it and put it on the bookcase, the middle shelf instead of the...
To Be a Cat Person
B and I went over to see my sister’s puppy today. The puppy was adorable and playful but the Beeb was not a fan. I have no idea why he doesn’t like the puppy but he just cannot get enough of the cat. Especially because the puppy is freaking adorable while the cat just slinks around with an air of supreme self importance. Oh bb, don’t tell me you’re going to be a CAT...
BB Language
Some of bb’s words:
Takoa/Dagoa Sua Shua Good Da Nahda Zya (“Nilzya” means “don’t” so of course “zya” means “do”) Nah
More conversations with bb
Me: Wow, your farts are smelly today! bb: Good.
Rambo Baby
BB has taken to putting his favorite toy of the moment in his mouth and negotiating his way through his piles of other toys by throwing them aside as he approaches them. I wonder when babies learn the concept of “going around things.” Earlier today I made the mistake of getting too close to him while he was doing this and almost got clocked in the face by a flying toy. He looks like...
Conversations with BB
Shoe store employee: You’re quite the heartbreaker, aren’t you? Bb: No. Sse: No!?
Bb’s first conversation. I’m still laughing about it.
The Mute Button
Whenever bb gets fussy in the car, all I have to do is sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and unless he’s truly unhappy, he’ll immediately calm down. Hub witnessed this in action yesterday and couldn’t get over it. ”It’s like a mute button!” he said. ”Except you have to hear me sing too,” I sang.
